Our History

1995

The company was founded in Hamburg under the name
Lenscare Kontaktlinsen-Pflegemittel-Versand GmbH

1997

We relocated our headquarters to Kiel and renamed
the company to Lenscare Kontaktlinsen-Versand GmbH

1999

We changed the legal form of the business to
the limited company that still exists today

2000

We started to sell Lenscare products in pharmacies

2001

We renamed the company as Lenscare AG
We introduced the Acumed product brand as
a "First Mover to Market" into supermarkets, health and beauty
retail outlets and department stores

2004

We were awarded with the Öko-Test seal "Very Good"
(1/2004) for the Lenscare care product "Komfort Plus"
as the best-value tablet system that was tested
as "Very Good"

2005

We were awarded the European seal
"Geprüfter Online-Shop" (approved online shop)
from the EHI Retail Institute

2006

Our online portal www.lenscare.de
was awarded as the Online Shop of the Year 2006 by
the bvh (Bundesverband des Deutschen Versandhandels e.V.
– German E-Commerce and Distance Selling Trade Association)

2007

We added sunglasses and reading glasses to
the Acumed product portfolio

2008

We renamed the company as 4CARE AG, renamed the
portal as "Lensbest" and established the name Lenscare
exclusively as a product brand

2009

We further developed the multi-channel concept when
we started to sell Lenscare products via optics specialists
("Lenscare brand partnerships")
